Most answers address generation – but (I have run solar and wind sources in my home and on a farm) I’ve found that the matter of storage is more important: batteries and such – followed by the process of using the stored energy: if you have a twelve volt battery bank (typical) and you want mains power, you’ll have to (first) turn it from direct current into alternating (AC to DC), then you’ll need to raise your voltage to 110 volts, or whatever the mains power is, in your location. This needs a unit called a ‘current inverter’ – Google that and the same pages should link you to all the other issues you’ll need to know.
